Aftercare for Your Fine Line Tattoo
I pour my heart into every tattoo I create at 97 INK, so let’s make sure your new ink heals beautifully. Fine line tattoos are delicate, so following proper aftercare is key to preserving those crisp details.
Right After Your Tattoo:
Leave the Dermashield On
If I apply a dermashield, keep it on for 24–48 hours unless I give you different instructions.
This protects your tattoo from bacteria and creates an ideal environment for healing.
Caring for Your Tattoo at Home:
Wash Gently
Once it’s time to remove the dermashield, wash your tattoo gently with lukewarm water and a fragrance-free, mild soap.
Use your hands to clean—no scrubbing or washcloths!
Pat Dry and Moisturize
Pat the area dry with a clean, soft towel or let it air dry.
Apply a thin layer of a recommended aftercare lotion. Avoid heavy ointments unless I’ve specifically advised them.
Avoid Sun and Water
Keep your tattoo out of direct sunlight while it heals (and apply sunscreen once it’s fully healed!).
Avoid swimming, saunas, or soaking in water for at least two weeks.
What to Avoid While Healing:
No Picking or Scratching
It’s normal for your tattoo to scab or itch as it heals. Don’t pick at it—this can damage the design.
Let the healing process happen naturally to preserve those fine lines.
Avoid Tight Clothing
Wear breathable, loose clothing over your tattoo to avoid irritation.
Your tattoo is a piece of art, and caring for it properly will keep it looking sharp and vibrant for years to come. If you have questions or notice anything unusual during healing, reach out—I’m here to help. Every tattoo at 97 INK is personal, and I want to make sure yours heals as beautifully as it was designed.
